Today marks my one year anniversary of writing here at Film Grimoire! I’m actually pretty excited and have a couple of fun things to announce.
1. As of today, the blog has had a bit of a redesign! I called upon the very talented Nicholas Stevenson (represented by the amazing people at Folio, shout out to Nicola!), one of my favourite artists, to create a beautiful header and background to celebrate this auspicious occasion. I love it! Can you guess who each of the characters are? Hint: They’re all from my favourite films.
2. Officially, I have my own domain! So please update your links to filmgrimoire.com.
3.a. This month is going to be a little bit different here at Film Grimoire, as between the 22nd of October and 7th of November I’ll be spending some time in the city so nice they named it twice; New York! I’ll be visiting to help my partner out with a film he’s producing, to have a bit of a holiday, and to explore a new place. I’ve never been to the USA before so any tips and tricks would be very much appreciated! Super excited.
3.b. During this time, instead of just film reviews, I think I’ll be mostly posting pictures from my adventures. I’m going to aim to find one film location in the city per day and share it with you guys. So fingers crossed that this project doesn’t end up with me posting a picture of the Seinfeld restaurant every day.
Thanks so much everyone for being so wonderful and for reading my silly reviews. Not sure what else to say other than that, but I have really loved writing here for a year and everyone’s lovely comments and participation has made it that much more amazing. Here’s to another year of good times and great films.

Congratulations!! And I can’t believe you’re going to the States right after I left! Timing, eh? Enjoy New York – personally it’s a bit busy for me, but I was only there for one day so my opinion isn’t worth much. I don’t really have any advice except be sure to pack lots of plug adaptors and be prepared for people to fall over themselves in admiration of your accent!
Thanks heaps Alina! 😀 It is pretty crazy timing! Shall make sure to bring lots of adaptors, that’s always the kicker when travelling overseas! I’m hoping to schmooze my way into business class on the plane using the powers of a foreign accent and some Australian charm, since we’re going with a random American airline for some reason. Not sure how it will go, but I will definitely report back on my success!

Happy Blogiversary! I’m so jealous you are going to New York I love it there. Make sure you see something on Broadway. As for any advice, remember to have plenty of change to tip people. I thought I left a good tip once at a resturant but they came back and told me I needed to put more in! Not sure if that place was dodgy or if it was because my maths is appalling but just be aware and have a calculator to hand.

I don’t think next break is gonna happen in the next 6 months… the award season is about to begin which means lots of promising films are about to surface 😉 ..this year so far has been good… especially the summer blockbuster season.
