It’s been quite some time since I’ve assisted the erudite seekers of knowledge who find their way to my blog. Search & Rescue is a series of posts where I address the strangely specific search terms that appear on my stats page, and help people out with answers to their questions. Here is a selection of search terms that I’ve collected over the past while.
what was the main reason for gray to treat anastasia in that way on 50 shades
Well, the book (and to a certain extent, the film) tries to convince its readers/viewers that people that people who experience trauma in their childhood, whether it’s physical or emotional, end up as people who enjoy sadomasochism in their sexual relations with others. Which is complete bullshit. I think the way that Christian Grey treats Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) is endemic of one author’s internalised problematic views towards women, filtered through the eyes of terribly written Twilight fanfiction.
כריסטיאן גריי
This is Hebrew, and it translates as ‘Christian Grey’. Great!
i want to view some photos of this flim ‘eyes wide shut movie’?
Okay:
when is the blindspot series starting
Any time, I think! I started my Blindspot Series at the beginning of the year and have reviewed one film per month, but people seem to be starting the series at any old time. Here’s some more information on it.
what is the pope’s headdress
It’s called a Mitre, and it looks like this:
what was the controversial film i am curious yellow
I Am Curious (Yellow) (1967) is a pretty amazing film about a politically and sexually active young woman who has a lot to say about the world, and a lot to learn about the world. I absolutely loved the film, and its follow-up, I Am Curious (Blue) (1968).
zardoz, what were they thinking
They were thinking that this was a great costume choice for Sean Connery:
a film by david sandberg with lotta lasten
This search term refers to a short film called Lights Out (2013), which is directed by David Sandberg and stars his wife, Lotta Losten. The short film is super creepy for a very short time investment and is well worth a watch.
documentary about satan that has old silent black and white movie film scenes in it
I wonder whether this search term might be referring to Häxan (1922), although that film is largely about witches and witchcraft rather than Satan himself. He does feature at some point in time and from what I can remember, his cameo is quite interesting indeed. It’s a film you may have to really commit to watching, but if you have an interest in the occult and witchy stuff then it’s worth seeking out.
Have you found any strange search terms in your stats recently? Feel free to share below!
This post is amazing! 😀
Thanks Natasha!
Hilarious post.
Thanks Alex! I always have such fun with the random stuff that somehow leads people here.
Good answers!
Also, that was not a great costume choice for Sean Connery. lol
Why thanks! The whole Zardoz film is filled to the brim with questionable costume and set design. It’s amazing!
great answers!
Love that you got one in Hebrew. How did u know what language to look up?
next time, u get something in Hebrew, let me know and I’ll translate it for ya 🙂
Thanks heaps Rob! I recognised that it was Hebrew immediately because I live in an area with a big Jewish population (and amazing bakeries as a result). Next time I get some more Hebrew searches I shall send them your way! 😀
Cool. Yep those bakeries really know how to do it 😉
Dammit Anna, I looooove these posts! I would do the same but the search terms for my blog are mostly pornographic 🙂
I’m glad you enjoy these posts! I can only imagine how colourful your version of a Search & Rescue would be!
I love the way you provide all the necessary information xD Great post, as usual!
Thanks heaps Zoe! 😀 I secretly love helping these random search terms out!
I wish some of those searchers would actually return to thank you for your hard work! However, we thank you, and them, for the entertainment 😀
I love these posts.
Glad you enjoy! 😀
Wow, thanks! If I ever have those specific things come up, I’ll know where to go.
You never know when you’ll have to talk about Fifty Shades in Hebrew!
These posts continue to make me laugh. My favorite of this bunch has to be the 50 Shades of Grey references. But i’m seriously torn between the Hebrew translation or the very specific, desperate-sounding search for meaning behind this very awful relationship dynamic. If you can even call it that. 😉
Glad you enjoy! 😀 Yeah, I have to say, when I found the desperate-sounding Fifty Shades search term I was a bit worried for the searcher. But maybe they were truly confused by how badly written and/or just plain bad that whole series is. Who knows!
The oddest and most popular search term on my blog is “social effect of the Oklahoma rush in 1893” — this term has come in a total of 414 since my first post in 2008. To this day, i’m not sure why, nor do I have an answer 🙂
That is amazing and so random!
Great post! Makes me wonder what kind of questions Google’s been asked about us!
Thanks Sean! I’m sure you have a lot of questions waiting to be answered in your search terms!
These are awesome! And I totally agree on 50 Shades of Grey.
Thanks Abbi! Fifty Shades is so bad. I think they’re still making the second book into a film. I’ll probably go and see it but I already know I’ll hate it!
