I finally got to see Ghostbusters (2016) last night, and before I write my review, I thought I might reblog this vintage Film Grimoire post from when I was visiting New York and happened to find the location of the Ghostbusters firehouse slash headquarters. Very good times indeed… stay tuned for my review on the reboot!
I feel like everyone had films that they obsessed over as a kid. For me, it was definitely Mrs Doubtfire (1993), and Sister Act (1992). Another film I would watch over and over again was the kooky/spooky classic Ghostbusters (1984). And I still love it, which is why I was so excited to visit the location of their firehouse headquarters the other day!
The firehouse used as the exterior of Ghostbusters HQ is located on the corner of North Moore St and Varick St in TriBeCa, conveniently right near the Franklin St station if you’re heading downtown on the 1 line. There’s not much else to say about the firehouse itself, it sort of sticks out as being immediately iconic and significant when you walk near it, which is really exciting.
