It was a very quiet month indeed over at Film Grimoire, with my unplanned/unscheduled/unannounced leave of absence from writing about film for a little while. It’s been a bit of a crazy month work-wise, so (as aforementioned) I’ve been trying to avoid looking at screens and have been trying to get out in the world to enjoy whatever nice weather we’ve been having.

As a result, this favourites post is a little bit different to my usual fare! I actually didn’t do much reading on WordPress throughout the month, which makes me a little bit sad. So instead, I’ll be sharing some general things that I’ve been enjoying this month. Onwards!

RuPaul’s Drag Race – All Stars 2
I can’t put into words how much I love RuPaul’s Drag Race; a socially and culturally relevant reality television show about drag queens fighting each other to become the best drag queen of all, as judged by RuPaul herself. I’m especially loving the second all-stars season of the show, with some of my favourite queens making a re-appearance on the show to try and steal the crown. My favourite of all time, one Katya Zamolodchikova, is doing so well. I particularly enjoyed the video above, where she was meant to market and sell a product of her own design. Typical Katya.

Weddings
I’m officially getting married next year, which is cool. So far it’s pretty much all planned. I have a day, time, venue, dress, and future husband. Planning a wedding is easy when you’re not having a traditional wedding-type ceremony or reception, so everything is stress-free and actually pretty fun. Good times!

This Stranger Things remix
I’m currently re-watching Stranger Things with my partner and I’m loving it all over again. The show definitely holds up well for a second viewing. I’m reminded of just how great the period details are, the excellent group of child actors, the throwbacks to Twin Peaks (my favourite television show in the whole world), and the amazing synth soundtrack by composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. But I really, really love the above remix of the show’s theme by Luke Million. So good. Just watch out for the potential spoilers in the video clip!

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
This show is the absolute best. Olivia Benson is my hero. To a lesser extent, Law & Order: Criminal Intent was also a favourite this month.
