My 2018 Blindspot Films

2018 marks my fourth year of participating in the Blindspot challenge; a series which was initially started by Ryan of The Matinee, and which has turned out to be one of my favourite yearly traditions here at Film Grimoire.

As always, there continues to be a never-ending list of films I feel like I should have seen already, and haven’t for whatever reason. I suppose this is the curse of film bloggers – so little time, so many amazing works of art to consume. This is the beauty of the Blindspot challenge – it challenges us to identify twelve films that we haven’t seen but should have, and to review one in each month of the year, in order to hopefully reduce the load of a gargantuan watchlist over time.

Out of interest, here are my previous lists:

I watched so many films that I absolutely loved for my 2017 Blindspot list, and in general across the years of my Blindspot lists. Please see below for my twelve Blindspot films for the year of 2018. I’m really excited to see them all!

What do you think? Are there any films in particular that I should look forward to watching? What’s on your Blindspot list for 2018? Feel free to share below!

P.S. It’s kind of shameful that I’ve never seen Edward Scissorhands!

  1. I have yet to see many on this list also (including Edward Scissorhands). Aguirre, the Wrath of God is an amazing film; my favorite from Werner Herzog! Ms. 45 is decent (has a good soundtrack, good lead, and a memorable ending) but not on par with Bad Lieutenant, which is a must-see. Great list, and I can’t wait to read your reviews!

    1. Thanks heaps! Perhaps Bad Lieutenant will be on my list for next year! 😀

  2. Mind Game all day every day. That film is sooooooooooooooooooo good! It’s fantastic. It is pure joy!

    1. I absolutely can’t wait to watch it! It’s been on my list for ages and it’s finally time.

  3. Make Ed Scissorhands your first, absolutely gorgeous!

    1. I think I might have to make it the first one, especially since it’s the one I feel most ashamed about never seeing!

  4. I’ve seen 6 of your 12. Honestly, they’re a mixed bag for me. I love 4, thought 1 was meh, and hated the other. Looking forward to see what you think of them. Of the others I am definitely trying to Ms. 45 sooner, rather than later.

    1. I love the mixed bag nature of the Blindspot challenge! I’m also looking forward to finding out which films you’re referring to! 😀

  5. A great list of films, although I agree with another comment that some don’t play as well as others – but that’s for you to decide once you see them!

I bought “Ms. 45” this year and was surprised about Zoe Lund’s real life story as well – here is a look at the film and the Actress –

“Ms. 45”! A Stunning Movie Debut For Zoe Lund! The Shocking True Hollywood Heroin Death Of A Great Young Actress!

    1. Thanks John! 🙂 Yeah, that’s the beauty of the Blindspot challenge! Good or not, I still get to finally cross them off the list. Zoe Lund was a very interesting person indeed, she sounded like a very enigmatic and intelligent artist. A huge loss.

      1. Yes, it’s a tough film to watch at times, and very raw and amateurish at times, but powerful, and she really did command the screen!

  6. I’ve seen half of these. I liked Breathless a lot more than I expected I would. On arguably the other end of the artistic spectrum, I also thought Fantastic Beasts was really enjoyable. The Fountain I need to revisit, but it’s certainly an interesting one, and the music is brilliant.

    1. I really can’t wait to watch them all! I’ll have to get to Fantastic Beasts before the next one is released this year.

Well, someone’s in for an interesting year ahead. Watched a couple of those recently and they were “interesting” to say the least! Looking forward to the reviews.

    1. Yeah! 😀 I’m looking forward to watching these!

  8. I’d had Edward Scissorhands on DVD for ages before I finally watched it, but it’s absolutely terrific! And I’m so glad you’ve kept up with Blindspot for so many years!

    1. It’s kind of crazy how long I’ve been doing this Blindspot thing. I barely scraped through last year due to being MIA. Loving it though! Really looking forward to Edward Scissorhands.

  9. You’ve got some good ones to look forward to.

    1. I can’t wait! 😀

      1. I am looking forward to your reviews.

  10. This is a terrific list, I think… Truth is, I haven’t seen any of these films, either! And, like you, I’m a bit embarrassed to say I’ve never seen “Edward Scissorhands”…

    1. Yeah! I’m really looking forward to getting into these films. I just need to cross Edward Scissorhands off my watchlist finally!
