It’s almost my three-monthiversary of writing film reviews here at Film Grimoire! This morning I woke up to a comment from the wonderful Vinnieh, saying he had nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award! It was still early, but I pretty much looked like this…
Thanks heaps Vinnieh! π It was really lovely of you to nominate me.
The rules are as follows:
- Thank the person who gave you the award.
- Include a link to their blog.
- Select 15 bloggers you follow and want to pass the award onto.
- Nominate the 15 bloggers and inform them of it.
- Finally, list seven interesting facts about yourself.
I nominate (in no particular order), the following people whose blogs I really enjoy reading, and I highly encourage you to visit them:
- Black Is White
- Films and Coke
- Literary Vittles
- Isaac’s Picture Conclusions
- Cinematic Corner
- Dan the Man’s Movie Reviews
- Not Now I’m Drinking Beer and Watching a Movie
- Mettel Ray
- The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger
- Karamel Kinema
- The Hypersonic55’s Realm of Reviews and Other Stuff
- Terry Malloy’s Pigeon Coop
- Elemental Reviews
- Durnmoose Movie Musings
- JJames Reviews
I wonder if all of you have this one already? I’m nominating you regardless!
Seven potentially interesting facts about myself:
- I’ve recently made friends with a neighbourhood cat who visits me at my front door most mornings before I go to work.
- I’m currently getting ready to start watchingΒ HΓ€xan (1922), so expect a review on it soon!
- The next book I’ll read will be I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai.
- My partner gave me a box set of all/most of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s films for Christmas! β₯
- As a child (around age 8), I had an obsession with the film Dances With Wolves (1990) for some reason.
- I start my Masters degree in March and I’m freaking out about it! With both excitement and anxiety!
- My strange obsession with the Amish has escalated this year since discovering a show called Amish Mafia on the Discovery Channel. I am sure it’s one of those fake-documentary style shows that has no truth to it whatsoever, but it’s so trashy and I love it.
Thanks again Vinnie! π
Thanks so much for nomination, really appreciate it! π
You’re welcome! π
Well done Anna! Very well deserved!
Thank you! π
Yo! Congrats on the nomination and thank you so much for nominating my blog! So awesome, thanks a bunch π
[…] Film Grimoire, one of my new favorite film blogs, just nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award! I am humbled and honored, because as I said I enjoy reading her blog and am a big fan of her logo and page design. Very much recommending her blog and not just because she nominated me, although if you want me to praise your work that always helps. […]
Thank you so much for the nomination! You’re awesome.
And Master’s Degree, huh? Don’t panic. You’ve come this far; you can go another year or two. Especially because, in many ways, grad school is easier than undergrad. In most programs, cramming for exams is no longer necessary. Now you just write a lot. A lot. A lot. And read. Just as much.
And you’re a good writer. You can handle that. π
You’re very welcome, and thank you for the vote of confidence! π Yeah, that’s what’s lessening my anxiety about the Masters – no more exams, just lots of essays, which I vastly prefer. And spending lots of time watching family court proceedings, which should be interesting!
Interesting. Yes. And perhaps a bit depressing.
I should probably know this already, but … What are you studying?
I’ll be doing a Master of Social Work in order to eventually work as a counsellor with kids/adolescents who have experienced trauma. So I think you’re right, depressing will definitely be the operative word for this career! π
At times. At other times rewarding will be the operative word. π
(My mom followed a similar path, by the way.)
Definitely! π I did a placement in the field last year and it was one of the toughest and most rewarding experiences of my life, and definitely something I’m looking forward to doing full time. was your mum a counsellor or a social worker?
Sounds about right on the placement. π
My mom’s done some of both. Works for a rural county in Wisconsin. Did clinical therapy, often with youths, for the better part of two and a half decades. Then, about five years ago, the county had severe budget cuts, so they gave her a choice: lose her job or go into the field. Obviously, she picked the latter, and has recently been helping underprivileged people keep their lives organized. She’s about to start leading some group therapy sessions, as well.
congrats
Thanks! π
Congrats on the nomination, though be prepared for some disappointment with Haxan. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s more of Hax-off if you catch my drift.
It’s a bit of a weird one isn’t it!
THANK YOU!!!! You rock!
You’re welcome! π Also, I’ve finally settled on my Shitfest: Valentine’s Edition film, and let’s just say it’s going to be a really shitty one!
thank you for the nomination!!! I only just watched Dances with Wolves last month but I LOVED it, so I’m not surprised you were obsessed with it as a kid haha
You’re welcome! π Dances With Wolves is pretty awesome. I like to think my childhood self had good taste in films!
congrats on the nom π and thank you for nominating me as well!
and good luck with your masters degree! i just finished mine last october, i wanted to go to school again but i probably should concentrate on work for the time being π
oh wow! jorodowsky is one director i’ve been wanting to see. but i haven’t had time to look for his film yet π
Thanks, and you’re welcome! π Congrats on finishing the Masters! What’s your Masters field? You should definitely have a look at any of Jodorowsky’s films! My personal favourite is The Holy Mountain. So amazing!
How is the Masters going?
I start in March, but I’ve been doing some pre-study like a nerd. I’m enjoying the readings so far! So I would say it’s going well! π
Awesome stuff π
