It’s just about that time of year when I start thinking about taking a holiday pretty much constantly. Just in time for the Dream Vacation Blogthon, masterminded by Katy of Girl Meets Cinema! The rules are:
If you could travel to any place in the film universe with any of your favorite characters or love-to-hate villains, what kind of a vacation would you take? … Post your choice(s) of a destination(s), and at least three characters who would tag along.
I had to think about this for a long time because literally any holiday would be amazing at this point in time. But when I really whittle it down, my choices are as follows…
I choose to visit Egypt! More specifically, the super touristy and historical parts – the pyramids, the Sphinx, maybe a nice cruise down the Nile, the ancient city of Aswan, the Valley of the Kings, maybe going swimming in the Dead Sea, hike up to the top of Mt Sinai, the list goes on. I’ve wanted to visit Egypt for literally my entire life and it hasn’t happened yet, but one can dream!
On my dream vacation I would choose to take four movie characters for three different reasons.
1. Indiana Jones: For obvious reasons. Apart from being beautiful, Indy is a renowned archaeologist and historian, so he would be able to give very interesting guided tours on our travels across this very majestic and history-filled country. Imagine exploring a pyramid with him. That would be amazing.
2. The Dude: It just seems like he would be the best travel buddy to relax with. He tends to put life in a nice amount of perspective and I think if there was any trouble at an airport (e.g. baggage over limit as a result of buying too many souvenirs) he would be pretty good at diffusing the situation.
3. Marie I and Marie II: These feisty Czech New Wave females know how to have a good time. Imagine attending a boat cruise down the Nile with these ladies causing shenanigans. It would be so much fun and the weird pranks would be endless. I think my dream holiday would have to end on a more positive note than the ending of their film, though.

Haha! She would be an amazing asset to the crew! I would love to do a part two of this post with just archaeologists, historians and adventurers as companions on a trip to Egypt or into the jungles of South America. How amazing would that be!

I’m not familiar with Marie I and Marie II , but Indian Jones and The Dude sound like interesting travelling companions. I can just imagine their conversations!
Having never been there, I did consider Egypt for my dream vacation destination, before finally settling on Lake Como in Italy.
Lake Como is totally on my to-go list as well. For its stunning beauty and also for the probability of running into George Clooney there!
