I feel like everyone had films that they obsessed over as a kid. For me, it was definitely Mrs Doubtfire (1993), and Sister Act (1992). Another film I would watch over and over again was the kooky/spooky classic Ghostbusters (1984). And I still love it, which is why I was so excited to visit the location of their firehouse headquarters the other day!

The firehouse used as the exterior of Ghostbusters HQ is located on the corner of North Moore St and Varick St in TriBeCa, conveniently right near the Franklin St station if you’re heading downtown on the 1 line. There’s not much else to say about the firehouse itself, it sort of sticks out as being immediately iconic and significant when you walk near it, which is really exciting. It’s also located near a really nice area with lots of interesting shops and cafés, so well worth the visit if you’re a Ghostbusters fan and also a fan of nice snacks and coffee.

Photos shot on iPhone 5.

Hint for tomorrow’s location: Watch out Mr Grant.

  1. Having fun up there???

    1. Absolutely! 😀

  2. I watched Ghostbusters in a cinema in Tuesday so I can imagine the interior perfectly as well as Ecto-1 tearing out of the station!

    1. Apparently one of the original Ghostbusters signs is hanging inside, but the doors were closed so I didn’t get to see them!

      1. As long as you enjoy your trip, that’s the main thing!

  4. Omg, this is SO cool! Ghostbusters has to be one of the most perfect movies ever made. I definitely have to visit the firehouse one day. 🙂

    1. Definitely! It’s for sure one of those places that film lovers should make a pilgrimage to when they get to the city.

  5. Love it, how fun I didn’t know you could visit that location.

    1. It’s super cool, there were a couple of other nerds taking photos of it when I was there as well!

  6. Reblogged this on FILM GRIMOIRE and commented:

I finally got to see Ghostbusters (2016) last night, and before I write my review, I thought I might reblog this vintage Film Grimoire post from when I was visiting New York and happened to find the location of the Ghostbusters firehouse slash headquarters. Very good times indeed… stay tuned for my review on the reboot!

  7. I wish I still had the toys ha. Great post.
